Linda was born on 3rd September 1947 and during the 1960s lived at 8 Eddisbury House, Sydenham Hill Estate. She was a backstroke swimmer who won 5 gold medals and 1 silver medal at the Commonwealth Games of 1962 and 1966, a record only beaten by one other swimmer. She competed in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics in the 4x100 metre Relay and the 100m backstroke, where she came 6th.

She retired from swimming in 1967, married in 1968 and went to live in America.
