John Paul Lyndon Regis was born on 13th October 1966 in Lewisham. He was the first British athlete to run 200m in under 20 sec. At the Seoul Olympics in 1988 he won a Silver medal in the 4x100m relay. He also competed at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where he won a Bronze medal in the same event. The British 4x400m team from 1990, of which Regis was a member, set the European Championship record for the event. Since his retirement in 1999 he has worked in the media and sports management.
